Paylocity
A modern HCM suite that pairs full payroll with strong engagement and talent tools for mid sized employers.
Paylocity is built for the mid market, the 50 to 750 employee band where a small business payroll tool starts to creak. It combines full service US payroll and benefits with a genuinely strong set of people tools: surveys, recognition, a social style feed, learning and performance, all in a modern interface employees actually use. The tradeoffs are transparency and fit. Paylocity does not publish list pricing, every quote is configured per buyer, implementation fees are charged on top, and a very small team or a company that mainly needs lightweight payroll will pay for more platform than it needs.

In its favour
Held against it
People tools and payroll lead, pricing is opaque.
Paylocity scores well on payroll and people management, where its engagement and talent tools stand out for the mid market. Value and ease dip because pricing is quote only and the platform is heavier than a small team needs.
Scored against the same five weighted criteria we use across HR and payroll. See the rubric →
