The best SMS marketing software for Shopify stores
Every SMS app in the Shopify store shows a low headline and bills you per message after. What matters is how deep the Shopify integration really goes and what a sent segment costs all-in. We reweighted for native Shopify depth and true cost, then ranked the five.
For Shopify we weight native integration depth and all-in send cost above everything, because a shallow 'Shopify-compatible' app can't trigger on the events that drive revenue, and a low monthly fee means nothing if carrier fees stack on every send. Generalist texting tools rank lower against the Shopify-native platforms. See the full rubric →

Postscript
Best Shopify-native
Built only for Shopify and only for SMS, so the integration is native to the event level. Rates include carrier fees — $0.015/SMS on the free Starter, lower on Growth ($25/mo) and Professional ($500/mo). Free inbound, monthly downgrades, $100 trial credit. The default for a Shopify store.
Klaviyo's Shopify integration is as deep as Postscript's and adds unified email. The cost model is the catch: US credits ~$0.009 each above 5,000, expiring monthly, carrier fees on top. Email+SMS from $35/mo. If you want one platform for both channels, this is it — just don't over-buy credits.
Deep Shopify support and managed deliverability, aimed at big brands. Quarterly minimums of $2,000–$3,000 and annual contracts make it the wrong default for a growing store; TCO runs 30–50% over quote. Worth it only at high six-figure send volumes.
A Shopify-integrated texting platform with tiered plans — 500 messages $16/mo up to 12,500 at $330 — or pay-as-you-go at $0.04/message, with unused credits rolling 90 days. Flows are lighter than the specialists, so it fits broadcast-heavy stores more than triggered-revenue ones.
Not Shopify-native — integration is via connectors — but credits roll over and the inbox is friendly: 500 credits $39/mo up to 50,000 at $909, 20% off annual. You give up event-level Shopify triggers, so use it only for simpler campaigns.
Event-level triggers. A native tool fires on Shopify events — checkout started, product viewed, order fulfilled — not just a nightly contact sync. Postscript and Klaviyo are native to that depth; Sakari and SimpleTexting connect more shallowly, so their cart and browse flows are weaker.
Postscript or Klaviyo for a Shopify store?
Postscript if SMS is your focus and cost clarity matters — carrier fees are in the rate and you can downgrade monthly. Klaviyo if you want email and SMS on one platform against the same Shopify data, and you'll manage the monthly-expiring credit model so you don't over-buy.
Are the 'free' Shopify SMS apps actually free?
Free to install, not free to send. Every one bills per message, and most add carrier fees on top. The honest comparison is all-in cost per segment plus any monthly floor — not the install price in the app store.
When should a Shopify store avoid Attentive?
Until you're sending at high volume. Quarterly minimums of $2,000–$3,000 and annual lock-in mean a store doing a few thousand sends a month pays enterprise overhead for nothing. Start on Postscript or Klaviyo and migrate up only if volume justifies the floor.
