The best website builders with real Stripe integration

"Works with Stripe" hides three very different things: a builder where you connect your own Stripe account and run a real checkout, one where Stripe is buried under the platform's own payment layer, and one where you paste in an embedded Stripe link with no cart at all. If your business logic lives in Stripe, only the first counts. We ranked six builders on how real the connection actually is.

How we reweighted the field

We weighted native Stripe depth — your own Stripe account, a real checkout, full dashboard access — above everything. A builder that routes payments through its own layer or only supports an embedded link cuts you off from the Stripe features you bought a Stripe-based stack to use. See the full rubric →

Webflow

Best native Stripe checkout

Webflow Ecommerce uses Stripe as its checkout processor against your own Stripe account, with a real product catalog and cart and full visibility in your Stripe dashboard. It is the most genuinely Stripe-native builder here. The one real limit: its native checkout does not handle subscriptions, so recurring billing needs a workaround.

  • Real cart + catalog
  • Full Stripe dashboard access

WordPress.com

Best Stripe control + subscriptions

On the Business plan, WooCommerce plus the Stripe extension goes the deepest of anything here: your own Stripe account, subscriptions, and access to Stripe Connect and Billing. The trade is upkeep — it is a real WordPress store to maintain, not a turnkey toggle.

Squarespace

Stripe-backed, limited control

Squarespace uses Stripe under the hood for payments, so the rails are Stripe, but you operate through Squarespace's commerce layer with limited direct Stripe dashboard control. Clean and quick if you just want to sell; restrictive if you need Stripe's deeper features.

Wix

Stripe optional, nudged elsewhere

Wix supports Stripe as a payment provider in many regions, but it actively steers you toward Wix Payments, and Stripe availability depends on where you are. Workable, but Stripe is a second-class citizen rather than the centre.

Framer

Embed only — no real cart

Framer is a beautiful site builder, but its Stripe story is an embedded checkout or payment link, not a native cart and catalog. Perfect for a single product, a deposit or a donation; not a real store. Know which one you are building.

Shopify

Can't bring your own Stripe — the trap

This is the trap the page exists for. Shopify Payments runs on Stripe's infrastructure, so it looks like Stripe — but you cannot connect your own Stripe account, and bolting a third-party Stripe gateway on triggers Shopify's extra transaction fee. If your subscriptions, Connect or Billing logic lives in your Stripe account, Shopify fights you the whole way.

The questions buyers ask

Does Shopify integrate with Stripe?

Only indirectly. Shopify Payments is powered by Stripe's infrastructure, but you cannot connect your own Stripe account to Shopify. Adding a separate third-party Stripe gateway works technically but triggers Shopify's extra transaction fee. For true bring-your-own-Stripe, Shopify is the wrong platform.

Which builder has the most native Stripe integration?

Webflow for a clean turnkey checkout on your own Stripe account, and WordPress.com with WooCommerce for the deepest control — subscriptions, Stripe Connect and Billing included. Both let you operate Stripe as the real processor rather than hiding it behind a platform layer.

Can I run Stripe subscriptions on a website builder?

Not cleanly on Webflow or Squarespace, whose native checkouts are one-time-purchase focused. For recurring billing use WooCommerce on WordPress.com, which supports Stripe subscriptions directly, or embed Stripe's own subscription checkout into a simpler builder.

Is "Stripe via embed" good enough?

For a single product, a deposit or a donation link, yes — an embedded Stripe checkout is simple and works. For a real store with a cart, multiple products and order management, no; you want a builder with native Stripe commerce, not a pasted-in button.
